On February 26th, 2010 at the 16th Annual Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, Ruedi was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for being an enterprising leader, whose contribution to the development of economic ventires in Niagara has spanned over several decades. The recipient of this award then induced into the Niagara Enterprise Hall of Fame, along with the Historical Hall of Fame inductees.

Niagara Helicopters is proud and excited to announce that our company has been acquired by Helicopter Transport Services Canada. The two companies are united by a common business culture and by combining resources Niagara Helicopters will now be leading the helicopter sightseeing industry with an array of additional support and expertise at our disposal. Ruedi Hafen will stay onboard as our VP of Public Relations. In addition, he will continue doing what he does far better than anyone we know - flying helicopters!

Luc Pilon, President of HTSC stated in a recent interview with the Niagara Falls Review (Jan. 4, 2012): "We have a lot of common ingredients. I've been at it a long time. So has he (Hafen), and we've known each other since Day 1 so I guess it was a logical way to go. It was a natural fit". Hafen said it was important for him to find a buyer who had the substance to continue what he started: "Luc is a very humble guy. He is the biggest private helicopter operator in Canada. I've been friends with him for 30 years and this is a very good thing for Niagara Falls and even North America. This is not something that just anyone can operate. In the end, we were both convinced that we were doing the right thing."
 
The rest of the team will also remain onboard and we will continue with business as usual - providing the highest, longest, absolutely most spectacular view of Niagara Falls!
